You can depend on Ehrhart to convert any sequentially fired fuel-injected gasoline engine to AutoGas.
Most propane AutoGas conversions today are made by fleet services, because fleet vehicles have several key characteristics. They:
- Travel to a home base regularly, which serves as a re-fueling station
- Cover a high number of miles every year, which allows fleets to offset the cost conversion due to very high fuel cost savings
- Follow a pattern of makes and models – which allows them to focus on achieving EPA certification for specific makes and models.
Good candidates for conversion to propane AutoGas include: taxis, police vehicles, firetrucks, shuttle vans, limousines, town cars, food and beverage distribution trucks, and utility trucks.
Frito-Lay announced in February 2011 that it is converting up to 2,000 gasoline-powered vehicles to run on propane AutoGas. Each vehicle will displace almost 1,667 gallons of gasoline annually, which translates to almost 4 million gallons each year for its fleet, and 40 million gallons over the expected lifetime of its trucks.
In fact, Ehrhart’s own fleet of trucks has run on clean-burning propane since 1949, and we regularly get 300,000 miles or more out of our engines.
Some people prefer that their vehicles be powered by propane AutoGas Bi-fuel, which is a conventional gasoline vehicle that has been converted to run on both propane AutoGas and gasoline.
The primary advantage of this bi-fuel system over a dedicated “propane only” vehicle is the peace of mind it provides for fleet managers and drivers. In the event that a driver has traveled out of range of an AutoGas refueling station, the vehicle can run on gasoline until an AutoGas fueling station is reached.
For example, in the event that a law enforcement vehicle on a pursuit or other critical mission runs out of propane AutoGas, the vehicle will automatically revert to gasoline and vehicle operation will not be impacted.
Ehrhart will convert you – and your fleet of vehicles – into another AutoGas success story. And our work is covered by warranty.
We offer vehicle conversions to all our customers. The system we use works with any sequentially fired fuel-injected gasoline engine.
We offer a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty covering all aspects of the conversion. In virtually all cases, converting a vehicle to an AutoGas hybrid does not void your factory warranty. Our warranty simply supplements a factory warranty to provide coverage for the hybrid system and its components.
We also provide the following support to fleet managers:
- Fleet vehicle types, quantity and fuel consumption analysis
- Vehicle conversion and fleet mechanic maintenance training
- Vehicle use and safety training
- Safe fueling practices training
- Ongoing fuel delivery planning
Regardless of whether the fleet has an in-house mechanic, Ehrhart Conversion Technicians are always available for ongoing consultation and training.
There are always new vehicles being EPA certified for conversion to propane AutoGas. Feel free to give us a call to see whether your fleet vehicles qualify.
