The very first and most important step is to determine the size of the heater you need. Heaters are rated in BTUs. A BTU is a measure of potential heat output. The most accurate way to determine the number of BTUs you need is to have us perform a heat loss calculation. However, we also have a rule of thumb, which works really well: Take the volume of your room (length x width x height) and multiply that by 5 for really good insulation, 10 for almost no insulation or somewhere in the middle for average insulation.
Once we determine your room’s BTU needs, we select the best model from among various venting styles, such as those listed below:
Rinnai® Direct-Vent Wall Heaters
Rinnai Energy Saver heaters are a distinctive technologically-advanced alternative to traditional central heating systems. They are compact and less expensive than central furnaces, yet they can heat a whole house. Natural gas and propane models in a range of sizes and colors, are available.
Unlike ordinary single-stage (on/off, hot/cold) gas appliances, the Rinnai Energy Saver has the ability to modulate both its burner and blower to provide maximum efficiency and comfort. It incorporates an electronically driven, seven-stage gas control system to help maintain an even and continuous heat output for stable room temperature control and efficiencies in both gas and electrical consumption
The Energy Saver is attractive, quiet and compact, and has a cool-to-the-touch cabinet. All of these features add up to make the Energy Saver an excellent companion for you, in your home.
Empire® HearthRite Vent-Free Gas Heaters
Vent-free heaters are inexpensive, and very efficient. That makes them extremely popular. It’s important to understand some of the drawbacks to these heaters as well, though. They produce a smell as a byproduct of burning a crude oil product and venting it back into your room. It is harmless, and you get used to it after a while.
They also create moisture that, depending on your primary heat source, might be a good thing. They tend to counter-act the drying-properties of wood or forced air heat.
Finally, you’ll have to dust more frequently. While the heaters run, a thin film will settle everywhere in your house. You won’t notice the film, but you will find you have to dust more frequently.
Empire® Natural Vent Gas Space Heaters
Maximum airflow and heating are the strong points of the RH-25 and the RH-35 Console Vented Room Heaters. Delivering atmospheric warmth to your medium-sized rooms, each unit is designed for style and efficiency. The heat can be further enhanced with an optional internal blower for added circulation.
Heating large areas is easy with Empire’s Vented Room Heaters. With their efficient heat flow, the durable RH-50B and RH-65B offer ample warmth that makes any room comfortable. The one-piece glass enclosure allows you to see the flame as it heats while the optional ceramic logs add a fire-like glow. The closed front on the RH-50C and RH-65C easily fits in any decor.
